Community 1st Bank

Urban Revitalization
Community 1st Bank sits along Sherman Avenue and showcases the adaptive reuse of a former 1960s TV and radio station, thoughtfully transformed into a modern financial institution.
The renovation focused on updating both the exterior and interior while preserving the building’s urban character. A new material palette—featuring weathered steel, warm wood accents, and large glass storefronts—adds visual impact. The rusted steel façade brings an industrial edge, while the expansive glass invites natural light and creates a strong connection to the street. Planter-integrated benches line the sidewalk, adding greenery and creating a more welcoming pedestrian experience.
Inside, the front of the building was fully remodeled to improve layout and customer experience. Accessibility was a key priority, with the addition of an exterior ramp and reconfigured interior spaces to meet ADA standards. The result is a striking, functional space that blends historical roots with contemporary design—supporting both the needs of the bank and the continued growth of downtown Coeur d’Alene.
