Wiggett Building
Coeur d'Alene, Idaho
The design leverages the building’s original materials—exposed timber beams, brick walls, and aged wood flooring—to ground the space in its 1928 roots. Sliding barn doors and wood-slat paneling add warmth and tactility, while clerestory glazing allows natural light to filter through workspaces. The result is an interior that feels both intimate and industrious, blending heritage with contemporary adaptability.
Framed glass partitions preserve the openness of the original structure, allowing daylight to pass through while maintaining acoustic separation. Exposed timber beams, black steel detailing, and raw materials reflect the building’s industrial legacy, while refined furnishings and thoughtful lighting create a workspace that is both professional and deeply rooted in place.
The Welch Comer Engineers lobby blends old and new with clarity and intention. Original brick and timber provide a rich backdrop for the clean lines of the modern reception desk. Natural light and pendant fixtures highlight the double-height space, creating a warm, professional welcome that reflects the building’s adaptive reuse vision.
